So there will be no HD-DVD games on Xbox360 now ever.

Just wondering if (and when) we'll see a BD add-on from Microsoft.

You won't I don't think.

From what I hear, Microsoft don't want anything to do with discs. They are pushing towards a download delivery method. But hey, who knows. Bill will do whatever Bill wants to do Wink

My guess is a new version with BD built-in. No more add-ons.

Or a brand new console in a few years.

I think it's still too early for a completely digital downloads era for videogames. Anyway, let's wait and see Smile

I would think the 9GB limit is going to start weighing heavily on them sometime in the next year or so, as game developers start to take advantage of the 50GB on BD for the PS3.

The prognostication I've seen guesses that they will come out with a new console with 100% 360 backward compatibility, so they can go to higher capacity disks, while saving face and not "abandoning" the DVD based 360 owners, even though it would amount to the same thing. That would also allow them to ramp up the Xbox capabilities a little bit. Seems like their best option.

I agree. I don't expect the next generation (say PS4 and such) to have a 'next generation' optical carrier i.e. successor to Blu-ray Disc. Instead, I expect it to incorporate a BD drive, which will be dirt cheap by then.

Two and a half years on, Microsoft is still holding out on BD for Xbox360. That seems rather final then.
