Any idea if DSD is surviving well as a recording and mastering system, or if hi-rez PCM dominates there?

Not sure but since it's so easy to downconvert elegantly from DSD to PCM with sampling frequencies of 44.1, 88.2 or 176.4 kHz I guess DSD must be ideal. |

Interesting article indeed but sad news for sacd. He's right - about the only new release on the horizon that I know of is the 3rd Genesis box set. In Japan there will no longer be any sacd PS3's for sale as the 40 gig model will be the only model out for the current time being. The 80gig has yet to be seen. I was in the states for the holidays and picked up 8 older sacd's. I even was able to get some very hard to find Gabriel releases for a decent price. |
