Finally there's a record player/turntable with USB output from an A brand: Sony.
The PS-LX300USB -- suggested retail price: JPY 28,350 see Sony press release and AV Watch (both in Japanese) -- comes with SoundForge Audio Studio LE and ATRAC/MP3 encoding for CD-R/RW.
Shouldn't it come with DSD encoding (and playback)? The software exists and is bundles by Sony with some of their high-end VAIO desktop PCs so why not here? |

Is there any reason you cannot use this hardware in conjunction with Sony's Sonic Stage Mastering suite that comes as standard with many Vaios??? Cos that allows DSD mastering, and that woudl be so cool....for DSD fanatics with analogue music ready for conversion. |

Oh, I think they can be used in conjunction. I'm just amazed they aren't bundled together. |

Here are two more solutions -- for transferring audio tapes/cassettes to PC.
"Tape 2 PC" from Ion -- $149

"Plusdeck2c" 'half-height' PC bay tape deck from BTO.

Of course, how audiophile the end result becomes depends on the quality of the source material, the settings, etc. |
