It's clear where the priorities lie: Sgt Pepper *has* been reworked for Rockband. And this must have involved a fair amount of artistic work. Here's the trailer.

It's stunning then to see that apparently it's hardly turning a profit.

Hey I have that RS 500 sampler!
As far as what albums I'd like to see be released in SACD or DVD-A, I'd have to say:
- All of The Jam
- All of Led Zep
- All of Radiohead
- All of New Order
- All of Kate Bush
- Wall of Voodoo's "Call of the West"
- Japan's "Tin Drum" (Ghosts would be unreal)

Re #87:

Over in this thread someone reports this week that on http://www.gbp-studio-acoustics.com/ he read:
Quote:
Pink Floyd is working with Producer James Guthrie on a new re-mix and master of "The Wall" using the original Stephens 821B Tape Deck from Glenn Brown Productions to create the most authentic masters possible. The project will be synchronized using two machines and transfered from the original 2 inch masters on GBP Studios Stephens 821B using the original MagLink Synchronizer. (tech assistance by Charlie Bolois - Vertigo Recording Services Los Angeles).

I could not find this quote so perhaps they removed it after complaints of leaking sensitive information but that only makes it more interesting Very Happy

After reading up some more my guess is it's not unlikely this is for a Blu-ray Disc release of The Wall. With an album like this I don't really mind whether it's going to be SACD or BD as long as there's a multichannel mix (which the announcement doesn't say actually).

On this SACD blog I came across this petition for releasing Wish You Were Here on SACD.

I signed it, as did some 200+ other people. That number can and should go up, easily.

THe WYWH disk is part of a large expensive set, if I recall. Kind of a bummer.

I hadn't noticed the news about Fragile coming out as a mch SACD. That's cool. Any thoughts on whether it will quickly sell out in Japan? I won't be there in August, and probably won't have another trip until Feb. Might have a friend pick it up if it is likely to be hard to find by then. Do they release pretty decent quantities when they do these?

I don't think so. It's part of a large reissue program but it doesn't say whether it's part of some 5- or 6-disc set. I suspect it's a separate item. Anyway, see this article.

I guess they do -- I believe most SHM-SACDs which are marketed as 'limited edition' are also still available. But why not order it online?

Upon closer inspection, 8 more titles from the RS Top 100 have been released on SACD since the original post, bringing the total to 29.

#13: Velvet Underground – Velvet Underground and Nico Arrow
#23: Stevie Wonder - Innervisions Arrow
#28: The Who - Who's Next Arrow
#34: The Band – Music from Big Pink Arrow
#37: Eagles - Hotel California Arrow
#56: Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key Of Life Arrow
#63: The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers Arrow
#90: Stevie Wonder - Talking Book Arrow

So 8 down, 71 to go Very Happy

It had been stated it would be part of the immersion set in some earlier announcements I had read, but they had also posited multiple albums on SACD, which was corrected to one within a few days. So probably they have not firmed up the plans just yet.

'Cuz I look forward to having something to go shopping for when I come to Tokyo. Smile
