The Lord of the Rings on Blu-ray Disc

Reportedly, we'll get the straightforward theatrical editions of the three LOTR movies on BD some time late 2009, and they'll save the special extended editions until The Hobbit is released in theaters.

I'll probably stick to my 12-disc Platinum Series Special Extended Edition DVD box set for now :)

I'll wait as well. We have both versions on DVD, and I am not shelling out twice for the BDs.

Bad strategy on their part, I think. Blu-ray sales are largely still to enthusiasts, and I think a lot of them will avoid this as a see-it-a-mile-away double dip, and not even including the version of the movie they want.

We don't even ever watch our theatrical versions anymore.
