Many of the various Wipeout games including the original Wipeout, Wipeout XL and Wipeout XL had their soundtrack released on CD.
I wonder if Sony will do the same for the Wipeout game they're planning for PS3 (so far referred to simply as 'Wipeout PS3') and hope they'll release it on multichannel SACD. Now that would be stunning.
One thing that worries me in this respect is that every edition seems have been released by a different label, even different per region:
- Sony TV / Columbia
- Astralwerks / Virgin
- Distinct'ive Records
If the game is only due for release in 2008 (as I recall) they're still plenty of room for hope |

According to this Wipeout HD fact sheet...
Quote: | • Music – Wipeout HD features nine fully-licensed music tracks, remixed in 5.1 |
That sounds promising! |

So, they might release a SACD of Wipeout music? |

Would be great if they released the game along with a SACD version of the soundtrack. Most likely would never happen though. |

Funny how the same company statement leads two completely opposite conclusions.
TheSixthAxis: "Wipeout HD on track"
Wired Game|Life: "Wipeout HD delayed"
Still no information about the soundtrack. If this is a BD release I can imagine them including it on the disc in some form that allows playback outside of the game, but what if -- as suggested -- this is just a downloadable game? |

One hopes that the delay is due to this being planned to be released on Blu Ray and therefore, may possibly contain high-res 5.1 soundtrack. Well, we can but dream. |

I had assumed this was to be a downloadable game similar to Stardust. Even better if it is a full blown disc title. Then my kid can stop asking to purchase Fatal Intertia, which I am not overly impressed wtih after playing the demo. |

Well that explains all the ridiculous warning screens on the Elefunk demo I downloaded last weekend. They stayed up for like 30 seconds. If those are mandatory each time the game is played, that alone would make it a no purchase for me.

According to this article wipEout HD is delayed "so they can add lots of stuff". That sounds great though it may just be an excuse. I just hope the game doesn't need to be pared down too much. |

It's more like an excuse to me. In fact, one more excuse in PS3's world. Home is delayed. GT5 is delayed. Movie service in PS Store is delayed (in Europe)... and on and on.

The price has now been fixed: £11.99, according to CVG.
It will be PSN-exclusive, as already indicated earlier.
The release date has not yet been announced. |
