Watched the blu-ray of this last weekend. Huge step up from the DVD (although mine is the original not so great release, even the subsequent DVD release is not particularly great by current DVD mastering standards)
There are virtually no artifacts in this disc. If you're a fan of the movie (I am in spite of having seen it about 50 times when my kid was younger), get it. They've re-rendered the entire movie at BD resolution, and basically created a flawless transfer. It kind of underscores how far Pixar's come, as you can clearly see the limits in their CGI modeling and texturing compared to their very recent efforts, due to the limitations they had even ten years ago.
Audio is also nice, although nothing as remarkable as the video. Good clean 5.1 track with extension and improved dynamics over the original.
Only ding I'd give it is Disney raised their blu-ray pricing so this will run you close to $30 most places. |
