I know of no way to play these on PS3 yet but I thought others here will still be interested in some high-resolution surround sound music tracks, especially if they can be downloaded for free.
2L have updated their "FLAC test bench with some fresh tracks" at http://www.2l.no/hires/index.html
The same resolution and even higher are available in stereo. Most are derived from DXD masters. |

Those look great!
Is there a way to play them on a sound system not connected to a computer? Perhaps streaming to the PS3 or burning an AVCHD or DVD-Audio? |

Not sure. I don't even think my PC can play them because I don't believe its sound capabilities are sophisticated enough.
Streaming 24/96 FLAC from PC to PS3 using PS3 Media Server is possible for stereo but there's an issue with 5.1 FLAC, I gather from this thead even though it mentions "FLAC 96kHz/24bits/5.1 support" for Windows/Linux here.
I haven't got this installed yet but guess I really should try it out some time. |

Cool deal. I can convert the 24/96 FLAC to 24/96 ALAC and play these from my mac.
THanks for the tip. |

That sounds cool too. What tool do you use for converting from FLAC to Apple Lossless? |

Tried these this weekend. The tracks sound quite nice.
Now if I can find a way to switch the mac's digital output back and forth from 24/96 and 16/44 using the remote , I'll be all set. Only major PITA with having both types of tracks in iTunes. |
