|

Warner Music Japan has started to reissue former DVD-Audio 5.1 titles on SACD 5.1 (see this news).
The first batch consists of: - Eagles - Hotel California
- Yes - Fragile
- Deep Purple - Machine Head
- Chicago - Chicago 5
- Linda Ronstadt & The Nelson Riddle Orchestra - What's New
This begs the question: which other *Warner* DVD-A titles should be reissued on SACD first and foremost?
Note: this is only about albums that already exist in a high-res (and preferably multichannel) mix on DVD-A and were released by Warner Music.
Jean-Michel Jarre? Pat Matheny? Alanis Morissette? Alice Cooper? Barenaked Ladies? Eric Clapton? The Flaming Lips? Fleetwood Mac? Neil Young? R.E.M.? Steely Dan? Stone Temple Pilots? The Corrs? David Gray? Donald Fagen? Linkin Park? Nena? Paul Simon? Philip Glass? Sasha? Seal? Any other artist we omitted here? |

I was first going to suggest Sting, until I realized Nothing like the sun and Ten summoner's tales are actually DTS discs, not DVD-Audios.
Most of the other ones I can think of are really DVD-Audio but they're not Warner titles.
In fact, most of the interesting DVD-Audio titles I've already got. I caved in a few years ago. When I gave up hope they'd ever appear on SACD I just bought them:
- Simple Minds - New Gold Dream (there's also an SACD of this already but it's stereo only as opposed to the DVD-A!)
- Queen - The Game (I've still got to get A night at the Opera but I've already got the DVD-V of that so the DVD-A has less priority)
- Kitaro - Best of Silk Road
- Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi
- The Beatles - Love
- The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (already about to appear on SACD but also stereo only as opposed to the DVD-A).
It seems the only Warner DVD-As I've got are Seal's:
- IV, Best 1991-2004 and Live in Paris
so those would be my suggestion to Warner.
Plus, moreover, the Donald Fagen and Steely Dan albums. I've got Morph the cat but not yet The Nightfly or Kamakiriad, nor Everything Must Go & Two Against Nature.
What I'm most interested in though is stuff they haven't (yet) released in 5.1 on either format. William Orbit and Madonna's Ray of Light is what I'd die to hear in surround. |

The JMJ albums on DVD-Audio, Aero and Teo & Tea should be a no-brainer.
They've also got the new recording of Oxygene in 5.1 so why not do that one as well, or is that one not with Warner? Anyway, I'd love to hear his whole collection, especially Zoolook. |

There's no specific list of Warner titles here but all of them should be included in this database of DVD-Audio discs:
